The "Anchor" name has been associated with real estate in Franklin County, Florida for almost 50 years. The first real estate company with “Anchor” in its name was Anchor Realty & Mortgage Company, Inc., founded on St. George Island by Dwight Marshall, Jr.; Dwight had first operated out of his home under his name "Dwight I. Marshall, Jr., Licensed real Estate Broker".

The yellow and navy blue signs did first spread in to be present in Apalachicola, Carrabelle, Eastpoint and St. George Island by the 1980s. The colors, yellow and blue, were those of the (now defunct) Apalachicola High School, known to all county residents as AHS. In the 1990s, the Anchor signs moved beyond the borders of Franklin County to reach Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, Indian Pass, St. Joe Beach, Port St. Joe and even Panama City Beach. In the 2000s, Tallahassee became Anchor's newest market. Anchor Realty & Mortgage Company of Tallahassee LLC (a company with the same broker as, but unrelated to, Anchor Realty of St. George Island, Inc.) was awarded the "Best (real estate company) of Tallahassee" award in 2005.

As real estate dwindled to almost nothing after 2005, the original company followed course: from eleven offices, it melted down to three; then one. In 2010, a new corporate entity, Anchor Realty of St. George Island, Inc. was started. Its mission was (and still is) to bring a new business model to a new going concern. Times have changed drastically, and so did the approach to real estate brokerage: fewer offices (actually, only one on St. George Island at this new beginning), but better everything! The striving for quality started with our new St. George Island office, sandwiched between the new grocery store (SGI Fresh Market) and the St. George Inn. Its efficient lay-out and state-of-the-art technology offer great ease to clients. In early 2011, it became time to open a small Tallahassee office, housing some of Tallahassee's foremost REALTORS. Some things change, but core values remain the same: quality and professionalism; willingness to help and a long list of loyal clients. These values were summarized in the logo of the first Anchor company: coastal colors - a traditional navy blue Anchor on a yellow background. They continue to be used by the newest Anchor company.
